OK, I'll admit it - I'm confused. When I go to my own page and click on the nav for "BLOG" it takes me to the list of these posts that I create through 'posts'. When I try to edit the page called "BLOG" I get something totally different. Ah, well . . . Believing this will result in another "BLOG post," let me add what I think will be a current BLOG post. I have been promoting and writing,…

It's all on me, not you. But if you are a fan, and you want to help, hold me accountable. Feel free to send me an email (lupusgnome@hotmail.com), and ask if I finished my day's writing. My goal is to write an absolute minimum of 250 words/day this week (and the minimum target goes up each week). Yesterday I managed 495 words. If you drop me a line, I'll tell you how I did. If you hold me accountable at…

Hello, fans. Once again, I have good news, and I have bad news. First, the bad news. Book 3 sucks. I have re-written it 3 times, using two different approaches, and none of them work. Now, the good news. That process of re-writing and critically assessing finally led me back to where I began for this book. I will begin again, writing it as originally planned. The book will deal with the Travelers and their new home, Pairodice. I will…

OK, I've been "distracted" long enough. Sorry about that. MY commit: I will at least one chapter a day (I have 14 written), before final submit to my editor once more. Once I have finished review/submit, I will write something each day, attempting to write two complete chapters a week. Tentative schedule 4/24 - finished with review/re-submit 5/1 - through chapter 14 5/8 - through chapter 16 5/15 - through chapter 18 5/22 - through chapter 20 5/29 - through…

Well, once again I missed my target for NaNoWriMo. I did get a little further on the next book, "Problems in Pairodice," the first of the sci-fi trilogy. Now I'm shopping for less fortunate families (we "adopted" a family at work), food to give to the food bank, and all the preps for our own family Christmas. An dealing with heavy rain and flooding in the Portland, OR, area; but our investment in a triple sump pump and superior drainage…

My reason, excuse or rationalization (take your pick) for not having written as planned has been (and still is) a major remodel of our family room. Not only has that impacted me, the author; it has also had a major impact on my editor, my wife. On the positive side, it's going well, and the end result should be awesome. On the flip side of that, everything from the family room and a downstairs storage area has been piled in…

Think of people around you as clients; some external, some internal and others that are in your personal relationships. Why? Well, when you think of others as your clients, you may find yourself treating them in a different manner - provided superior customer service, if you will. Paying external clients are the most obvious, so let's move on to others. Even those providing YOU with a service can be viewed as clients; you let them know what you need, when…

To my eager fans, I apologize. I am dreadfully late with the next book in the series. Following are a few of my reasons, or excuses if you will. ¬†First, there was Coffee House Writer's Group (CHWG). When I read some of the next book out loud, the feedback showed me many ways to improve the writing. Then there was Blizzcon. Then there was Chrismas. Then I was sick. After that there was flooding in our finished daylight basement (which…

We had an Open House at Daylighters Toastmasters this morning. (Daylighters meets weekly, Wednesdays, 6:40 a.m. - 7:55 a.m., Cedar Hills Recreation Center; visitors welcome.) Our guest speaker, Susan Bender Phelps (OdysseyMentoring.com) gave an excellent presentation on networking, including a small exercise. Most of our members were there, and 10 guests! It seemed like everyone learned something valuable, as well as enjoying some networking, camaraderie and breakfast. I want to share an outstanding quote that Susan shared with us, from…

Happy New Year! My first two books, "Once There Were Dragons," and "There Used to be Magic," are now available locally in Portland, Oregon. Postal Works on 185th NW is carrying them in store. That is not news; but there is a discount available. The Postal Works has a delightful little gift shop, with tons of wonderful goodies for yourself, your friends, gift occasions . . . and if you buy something in the store, as well as one of…
